About me
Venturing into the blogging world, this is going to be an occasional blog capturing progress through my beekeeping journey as I try to work out what to do, when to do it and why on earth they did that!
So, who am I and what am I doing:
I started beekeeping in the summer of 2011.
I keep bees at home, and in out apiaries, in and around Peakirk in Cambridgeshire.
My honey is sold over at the Moor Farm shop, see the links for more detail.
Let’s see how 2022 goes!
We bought some of your delicious honey today at Moor Farm. We live in a cottage in Eye Green with an acre of paddock surrounded by fields. You might like to consider putting one or two of your hives at the top end of the paddock. We retired here 5 years ago and have planted many trees and flowers including lots of lavender and buddleia. It would be nice to hear from you. Alison and Michael
Hi Alison and Michael, thanks for the message and I hope you enjoy the honey.
I’ve currently got my hives on three sites and it can be a bit of a job. Thanks ever so much for the offer, it is very much appreciated. Can I bear it in mind for the future, as I think my wife will have words if I start another site!
That’s great to hear that you have planted trees and flowers, both help the bees and other pollinators. It is great to have a good mix of forage for them all, across the year. Farm land can be great when crops are in flower, but it helps to have gardens to cover the times when they are not.
Thanks again,
David
